The worst part of these tabloid stories was how so much of the misinformation kept being repeated, as the truth. When little if any of these stories were in any way accurate.
What is important to understand by reading these four articles from the National Enquirer is they set the stage. This was the mindset in July of 2005. This is the way the tabloids would report on this case and this is the way most cable news shows in the United States would also report on this case. There seemed to be little difference. It was not innocent until proven guilty. It was guilty as charged.
