So where is Natalee's watery grave?

The watery grave can be found in Andrew Hodges book, "Into the Deep." This book is based on emails Andrew believes, then suspect Deepak Kalpoe wrote, a few short days after Natalee Holloway went missing. It is Hodges belief that Deepak's subconscious mind is confessing to a heinous crime in these emails to a friend. Of course it takes the decoding of Hodges to explain the scientific "thought printing," of Deepak's mind and to understand the subliminal message he was trying to convey when he wrote these three lengthy emails. Deepak by the way denies ever even writing these emails. And it would seem since we really never heard much about them before Hodges, they certainly were not key to the Aruban investigation. But nevertheless Hodges wrote a shocking book based solely on what he calls "Deepak's confession."

Sadly it would seem that Andrew Hodges managed to capture the attention of Natalee's father Dave Holloway. Hodges writes in his book of extensive conversations with Dave about his profiling method. And since Dave apparently had some background in psychology himself , he was familiar with dreams and what the unconscious mind might offer as evidence. Dave also would strongly support Hodges theory of Natalee being in the ocean. Early on in the case Dave managed to latch onto a theory that Natalee was not only in the ocean, but he felt that a friend of the Van der Sloots would provide the boat that took Natalee out to sea and dumped her there.

In Hodges book, he speaks of a conversation with Dave involving all three boys being spotted several times the week after Natalee went missing driving around the area of the Fisherman's huts, like they were looking for something. This is where Dave contends Natalee's body was loaded up before being taken out to sea. Both Andrew and Dave believe the reason Joran, Deepak and Satish kept a surveillance on the hut area was in case Natalee's body washed back to shore. Of course, who these witnesses were that alleged the boys actually driving around this area no one knows. Again, this is not something that is in any police report or has been documented by law enforcement at all. These findings seem to only be in the minds of Dave and Hodges.

So very many "headcases," seemed to jump into this case and appear helpful and useful. Were any of them really helpful? Did any of them offer anything of value to the investigation? Or did they cause Law Enforcement more trouble than they were worth? by    Jan Brennan
